About us

Credit reporting for people, not products.

The Credit Post is an independent editorial site covering credit scores, debt, lending, and the everyday decisions that come with borrowing money.

Our mission

Most credit content on the internet is written to sell something — a card, a credit-repair service, a loan. We wanted a place that wasn't. The Credit Post exists to explain how credit actually works, in plain English, so readers can make their own decisions without a sales pitch attached to the explanation.

We cover the topics that show up in real people's financial lives: what moves a credit score, how delinquency and collections actually work, how to read the documents your lender sends you, and what your options are when a payment gets missed. We're not trying to be exhaustive financial coverage — we're trying to be useful.

Editorial standards

A few rules we hold ourselves to:

  • No fabricated sources. We don't invent quotes, studies, or statistics. When we cite a figure, it reflects publicly available, well-established information about how credit reporting and lending generally work — not a specific unverified data point dressed up as fact.
  • No pay-to-play coverage. We don't accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage of a lender, card issuer, or financial product.
  • Education, not advice. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, or tax advice. We explain how things generally work; your specific situation may differ, and a licensed professional is the right person to advise on it.
  • Corrections happen in the open. If something we publish turns out to be wrong or outdated, we fix it rather than quietly deleting it.

A note on our relaunch

Honestly: thecreditpost.com isn't a brand-new domain. It existed previously, went offline for a stretch, and we recently renewed it to rebuild the site from scratch. Everything you see here — the design, the articles, the newsletter — is new as of this relaunch. If you remember this domain from years ago, this is a fresh start, not a continuation of whatever it was before.

Who's behind it

The Credit Post is run as an independent, small-team publication. We're not a bank, a lender, or a credit repair company, and we don't accept funding from one in exchange for editorial influence. If that ever changes, we'll say so clearly on this page.
